Travels

I have not been keeping this blog up regularly. I've had a fairly active summer. Oregon Country Fair, camping trip to Lewis River and Mt. St. Helens with Debbie West, a week of backpacking in the Wallowas (wonderful range of mountains), a 10 day trip to Minnesota, and now I'm about to head back to Minnesota for another 9 days of working in my late Aunt Lisa's house to sort and clear out her vast accumulation of stuff. It is a big job, she was something of a packrat, but pays off in discovering fascinating old photos and family memorabilia, like for example my great great Grandfather's daily journal from the 1880's.
I'll be taking Amtrak again, a long ride but good for getting lots of reading done.

Portland (third in a pro/con debate)

Portland is in a forest. It is not a forest as such, but it is in one. And Forest Park *is* a forest. Forest Park saves my life regularly.
